The Power of His Resurrection
‘And the light shineth in darkness, and the
darkness comprehended it not’ John 1:5.
The glory of Jesus is the light of
God, he is the beauty of God, this speak of the radiant brightness of his
person, the shining light of God’s shekinah glory. We cannot speak of the glory
of God without talking about the light that describe his person and the great
one that seats on the throne in heaven and shining into the lives of the
children of men here on earth. The life of Jesus is the light of men
As i write this book, i cast my mind
back on the whole experience of Christ’s
death and resurrection from the grave, can there be any glory greater
than the story of Christ’s death and
resurrection both on earth and in the heavens above?, absolutely no one. He is
the light of men and following him means walking in the light and glory of God.
‘Then
spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that
followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life’.
John 8:12.
Right from the point of his betrayer
by his most closest friend and
associate, Judas Iscariot, a man who has eaten and dine with him every mile of
the way, his treasure keeper. It’s a story of the darkest experience of
betrayer that eventually led to his final crucifixion and death; death which we
can call the final point of human exit from this planet and the conclusion of
human history from conception, birth and life experiences put together.
In spite of all these understanding of
the pangs and mystery of death, the glory of the father was made known and
shine forth all across the entire world through out every generation. As I read
through my bible, studying the whole experience of Jesus, right from the garden
of Gethsemane to the tomb, i see the glory of the father waiting to be revealed
and shone all through the darkest time in human history both in the physical
and spiritual. It was hidden but revealed at the end of the story, the glory
that was hard to walk into by our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ even in the
face of the pains and the horror of his dark night.
When you have poured out your life to
people whom you love so much with every bits of your life, spending time and
all other resources to make sure they are happy and comfortable but instead of
giving you back with the same coin, they ended up paying you back with evil and
betrayer, that can be called the darkest part in life and such was the
experience of Jesus before the full revelation of the glory of the father in
his earthly life and ministry. Where was the five thousand that was fed
miraculously by Jesus with two loaves of bread and three fishes?, where was
Lazarus the man that was raised from the dead after three days or so?, where
was the woman with the issue of blood, where was blind bartimaeus and all other
beneficiaries of his miraculous workings?. You can be easily seen and applauded
when things are moving smoothly and you
freely feed people and give them what they want in life, you may not need to
make any special call or work too hard to see them flood around your house,
office and churches, but what happen when things turn the other
way round and they need to contribute to your own growth and progress?, it
might be a little bit hard and harder to see such people again because people
don’t see you when you are in the dark
times but only when you have come to the light of your rising. It is no coincidence when the literal light
of the world was turn to darkness on that day and the temple curtain torn from
top to bottom by the mighty power that comes from above, that is the full
description of what is called the DARKEST PLACE. When these dark days are over,
you will sing a new song and heaven will celebrate your rising. Get ready for
the unexpected turning that follows the dark season of life.
The spice and the tomb
I see the help the people where trying
to offer to the body of Jesus while in the tomb, it was more of the show of
love than the expression of faith, they brought spices to perfume his already
decomposed body, temporary solution for a ‘permanent problem’. What a help,
they believe that he can no more come bring back to life, if they believe they
would have stayed a little longer at the
tomb side till the third day for his resurrection, they all left for their
houses with great pain and gloominess. Their effort on this beautiful morning
was to further preserve his body from smell in the face of his earlier promise
of resurrection which they never believed. When man cannot change your
situation, they suggest and present a seeming solution of preserving your problem;
either with a name that depict incurable, impossible or with such a sympathetic
counsel that can never proffer any permanent cure. Only God has the solution to
every problem and with him there is no impossibility, it is my kind advise that
you don’t discuss your issue with those that cannot provide solution unless God
has assure you by the Spirit that such a one is a vessel from God for your
help. Most a time i love to stay alone and wait for the help that come from
above just like David said, lifting up your eyes to the hill. They went there
on the resurrection morning with spices but met with a different story of his
resurrection. Hallelujah.
The Glory of Resurrection
Hallelujah! On the very day of
resurrection morning, it was a glorious day and the darkest night of his death
was all over, the pains was gone, the horror over, the mockery and every other
thing you can call shame was transform to light, leaving only the scars for us
to remember as a symbol of his triumphant victory that he has conquered death
and Satan with his very blood for all humanity. There remain no more pain nor
misery but the revelation of his glory and the shining light of his life all
through out every generation.
‘In
him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in
darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not’ – John 1:4-5.
Permit me to say this that Jesus saw
the end from the beginning, he beheld the throne and the crown that was
awaiting him in glory, he counted the cost, he saw him who was faithful to all
the promises and patiently waited for his long awaiting glory to arrive even
when it was difficult to wait, he left the glory in heaven and chose a path of
giving out his very self for us all and all through this he kept his promise
and pull through to the cross and gave us his glory to reign and enjoy.
His pains for your gain
Can we ever describe the gravity and
measure of pain that our Lord Jesus Christ
went through to get to glory?, it is indescribable but you must know that
whatsoever will be your pain in life in obeying God or in fulfilling your
divine assignment are just but temporary pain compare to the glory that shall
be reveal thereafter. There can never be any gain without a pain, it must cost
you something. Your new found faith must cost you something, the loss of old
friends with whom you enjoy the pleasure of sin before, the loss of those who
cherish your sinful life and their ungodly admiration, the strong bond of the
sinful partners and their appeal, the temptation from the bodily appetite that
you indulge yourself in in the past will definitely bring you a temporary pain
but the gain is incomparable.
The determination to succeed in life
will also bring along certain sacrifices and prices that you must pay in order
to get to the top ladder in life which you must be ready to pay without compromise
if you are truly ready to walk your way out of obscurity to a glorious limelight.
His cross for your crown
Crowns are for champions and for those
who have entered into royalty and splendor; it is the symbol of authority and
rulership. For you to truly be crown, you must embrace the rules of
enthronement and rulership. Every opportunity to obey God and do what is right
is another opportunity to climb into the ladder of rulership in life, thrones
are not meant for villains but victors who know what it takes to defies the bed
of Portiphar, renounce the Babylonian garment and the gains of Naaman to wait
for the true riches that come from the father of light with whom there is no
iota of doubt nor any variableness.
We can reign only when we refuse to
compromise our stand and the standard of the kingdom for any other thing
mention among men. Praise God. We are blessed beyond measure and our riches in
Christ Jesus are far above the mundane things of the world, we are the
generation of royal priesthood. Hallelujah!
Every cross you carry today will earn you a
crown tomorrow, this is not as a result of your evil doing but situations that
are tough which can only be compared to another cross, these can be personal burdens, career,
finance, family, ministry matters and it can also be those that you carry for
others by bearing their burdens in one way or the other (Gal. 6:2). They are
not meant to crush you but to bring you to your throne in due season, to
prepare you for your crowning, if only you can trust God for strength and
wisdom which are the indisputable pair that are very necessary at such a time
like this. He was glorified and celebrated for his victory, even till today.
Four Major Things that provoke His glory
We must not be too hasty to lay claim
to the glory of Jesus without taking a closer look at the following factors as
a prerequisite for his eventual glorification and enthronement.
I.
His
humility
We cannot talk about his glory without
his humility, one thing come before the other; he was ready to do the will of
the father.
‘Who,
being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made
himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made
in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled
himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross’.
Phil.2:6-8.
How can you tell me you are waiting
for his glory when you are full of pride and your ego no one can offend?. The
glory flow where there is full recognition of the humility of Jesus in the
Spirit of servant hood. Service to God and man is a sign of humility, it is the
readiness to bear the inconveniences of men and provide the humble service of
the kingdom to others, it is the ability to sell God to the most arrogant
sinner who sees nothing in what you are preaching than an idle work of the so
called Christians. Humility is the ability to love people with the true love of
Jesus even when they pay you back with hatred and back stabbing. To the glory
of God i have found myself in such an environment, where you are reduced to the
ground even as a residence pastor of a group of believers, where my good will
was always criticized and ill spoken of and regarded as stupidity and
foolishness, this i have heard them say about me but i was envelop with love
for them and a humble service to my father who called me into the work of the
kingdom. Some of these people i later helped and assisted at such a time even
financially to meet up their dare need for help. How can we claim to be humble
when we are not bendable and ready to do the will of God? God resist the proud
and give grace to the humble (James 4:6; 1Pet.5:5).
