Whose Report do you Believe?

Whose Report Do You Believe?

This months’ teaching looks at the concept of faith, and in particular the tension over what we believe. Should we believe what God’s Word says, or what science and our senses tell us? This issue is constantly before us. If we desire to experience the power of God to change our lives we will need to understand some principles of faith. I trust this teaching will assist you to walk with God, and experience the victory of faith.

As Christians we are instructed to: fight the good fight of faith (1st Timothy 6:12)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen
Hebrews 11:1

In other words, faith believes as what it cannot see with the physical eye. Faith has evidence which cannot be substantiated by science, or by the physical senses. Faith takes God’s Word, the written bible, as evidence or truth even in the face of contrary sense ‘evidence’. Faith does not operate by this world’s natural system but rather by the unseen spiritual world. Faith opposes our natural mind, our logical common sense. Faith challenges and changes scientific ‘fact’, it challenges our reality!

Yes! The purpose of faith is to bring change to this world. Faith does not agree with our circumstances but rather supernaturally changes our circumstances. Faith by its very nature and definition is supernatural. To walk by faith we must be prepared to operate in the supernatural.

Faith is the way of victory. Faith does not submit to circumstances which oppose God’s written or spoken Word. Faith challenges those circumstances and overcomes them. Faith is fearless. Faith is a mighty conqueror. Faith is our victory. Faith is glorious and powerful. Faith is never defeated. Faith’s greatest friend is the covenant promises of God. Faith embraces God’s Word, and never lets it go. This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).

Faith does not consider the circumstances (Romans 4:19). Faith does not look at the storm (Matthew 14:30). Faith gazes intently, with undivided wonder (James 1:6-8), at God’s covenant promises. Faith believes the report, the promises, in the bible more than the physical senses. Faith is unmoved, unfazed by circumstances. Faith has courage and determination. Faith is always a winner, it is never shaken. Faith is like a tiger on the attack, it does not give place to fear.

Faith is the friend of God, the means whereby God can bring his will from heaven to earth (Matthew 6:10). Faith is heavenly minded, mesmerized by heaven’s words – the bible. Faith makes no sense to the natural mind, it appears as foolishness (1 Corinthians 2:14). But faith is the power and glory of God (Romans 1:16). Faith saves lives. Faith gives substance to our hope (Romans 5:1).

Be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises
Hebrews 6:12

Dear saints of God, embrace faith, accept the way of faith. We walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Life can bring us many evil reports (Hebrews 3:12) such as: sickness, financial hardship, and various kinds of disappointment and betrayal. When an evil report comes our way, this is the critical moment. What will be our response? Will we capitulate to the negative report? Or will we determine to oppose that evil report, and stand in faith? Let us stand unyielding in the face of evil, with the promises of God in our heart and on our lips (Romans 10:8). Not even changing our behaviour but doing the actions of faith (James 2:17-20). This is the evil day when we must put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:13), including taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16). This is our defining moment of war. This is the instance to be strong and very courageous (Joshua 1:7). This is our opportunity to prove the power of the living Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). This is our time of victory to stand against and defeat the plans of the enemy. This is our occasion to bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. To say, ‘Lord I believe in your word, I believe the book, the bible. I stand in faith on your word, nothing wavering. I will stand until I see the victory! I will fight until the death!’

This is the attitude of victorious Christian living. Are you prepared to fight to the death? Has the Bible become so precious in your life that you will not betray Jesus’ Words? Will you stand on the Words in the bible in the face of death, believing, nothing wavering? Will you place you life on ‘the altar of faith’ (Genesis 22:9-10)? Whose report do you believe?

Bless you dear saints of God. Remember that faith comes from God’s Word (Romans 10:17). Focus on the seed of the promises in God’s Word. Meditate on the seed day and night, and faith will come. As the seed grows and produces faith and revelation choose to yield to that faith, yield to the report of God’s Word. The Lord will not disappoint or fail you. God is true to his Word. And you will experience the power and the glory of God’s kingdom – though faith (Hebrews 11:6).
